if not...its a shame.
i use protools as a audiorecording/editing app only...but want to start protools from my mpc and have mpc to give clock to all my other clock devices drumachines hardware seq.s etc..
but it looks like i have to choose!! mmc or midiclock!! so i have nothing else to do then control the hole rig from protools and i dont want that!! im just so **** tired of computers im thinking of getting a mulitrack dat or something..but protools is outstanding when it comes to twist audio around..so is there something i can do??
i allso want to use mmc becurse then i can set dubble speed on protools and edit the audio twice as fast(rolls/fills etc)
peace out from sweden.

You can use MMC and midi clock. However, I would suggest using MTC and MMC since MMC would be much more accurate. Better yet, I suggest making the recording device set to MTC master and the MPC set to MTC slave with the MPC set to send MMC where you can use the transport controls of the MPC to start stop and still be able to send midi clock to devices. There is quite a bit of MTC, MMC, SMPTE info at www.mpc2000xl.com

cool..but mtc got tempo-info right?? i dont want that..only start/stop/rec..
im trying to get mpc 2000xl to send both mmc and clock(to dr.machines) but when i change mpc to send mmc..only protools starts not my hardware clock gear.
dosent matter if i change from port 1 to port 2 or cables etc..ARGHH!!
i will try the other way around as you suggested...if that dosent work i will clock the hole rig from protools when im ready to record stuff(only swift master from mpc to protools) i saw that protools got a ppq at 9600.. wish is exatley 1000 more then mpc...so it might dosent sound to ugly.
before when i used logic-audio it was a ugly timing(15 000ppq)
i try it..thanx:)

good advice mpc3000 but not his question

sadly no you cant SEND BOTH mmc and midiclock.

you are correct midihooker you have to choose.

im sure someone has come up with a workaround however.

oh and by the way, your worries are also correct... syncing the mpc to another sequencer with vastly different ppq is going to get ugly, and does indeed mess with groove. think of two cogs with different amounts of points trying to roll together... exactly

im quite anti-midi for sequencing everything, and commit to audio as soon as im happy with the results. midi is still kick-ass however (we've made a midi controller on our site linked below, and i use midi to trigger VJ visuals in our live set etc)

good luck
