midi setup feedback

Does anyone know what settings you have to use on the mpc in order to both send and receive midi at the same time The data goes out of the mpc (via midi out A) into my pc (via a 1x1 midi interface) then out of the pc via into the mpc (via midi in 1 on mpc)
I've been fiddling with the midi output soft thru options either I can't get in and out at the same time well if i am i'm creating an awaful midi feedback siginal does anyone have any ideas what i'm doing wrong ?

midi feedback loops are indeed what you are making.
