Advice on Sound Module Please...

I want to build a small rack but need suggestions on a RELIABLE & VERSATILE sound module. I am making progressive hip hop/pop/jazz & r&b. Any help is appreciated.

if you guys use a computer, f the rack sh*t. hook up soft synths man. you get more for the money. you can have as many instances of each depending on how big your processor is and how much ram you have. my boss used to have a couple racks worth of roland, emu, korg, and akai modules and samplers but now we built a pc, put this program called VStack on it which is a vst host mixer, and slapped like 11 or 12 soft synths on it. way better. you can save settings for each session so you dont feel pressured to finish a project or have to remember settings between projects. there are a lot of great soft synths out there too. thats my word.

I have to agree with Mesh. If you have a computer, you've got half of the answer. My favorite softsynth is Crystal. www.greenoak.com. It's very powerful, and it's free.
