Calling all Beat heads-King Of The Beats part 2 MPC Battles

Just found this site by accident and thought that maybe some of you heads would be interested in an event that i'm putting on next week at the ICA in london as part of of a night i run called Blacktronica.

Ben Grimm(MPC 2000XL) vs Apollo(MPC 2000XL)

4 rounds, 4 beats each and the crowd decide the winner. last round both producers have to compose a beat usung the same sample. This months selected sample for the chop is 'Everyone Loves the Sunshine' by Roy Ayers. The last event was a rowdy affair with Fusion(2000xl) going up against Dobie(3000). Funny to see people staring at the MPC's in amazement as they got down to the sounds. It's developing into a regular
event but more beat heads are needed for future events .

I dont get it, they have pre made beats or do something live, sounds cool though, is there a web cast or sumthin i can get into to watch it.

battle is a combination of pre pepared beats and off the head stuff. People have been making stuff up on th spot to reply to what they have just heard. Tempo repeat and sixteen levels come in very handy.

That is so weird. My sister went to the UK a few months ago and got me a flyer for Blacktronica. I thought it was so cool I put it up on my board at work (I'm looking at it right now). It's a photo of a black dude driving a car with fruits and a cross hanging from the rear view mirror. What kind of car is that by the way?
