buying an MPC.......

Can anyone tell me.....
Is it worth buying the MPC4000, when the MPC2000XL is half the prive of the MPC2000?
I know, you're gonna tell 'it depands what you want to do'
but....
What other functions does the MPC4000 have more then the MPC2000XL?

and what are they worth at the moment?

If this is your first mpc, then I would definitly get the 2000xl

The OS is great

It's very easy to use

and with a good computer, you can do just about the same as the 4000
I have a 4000 now and I like it alot, but the OS is not up to par and Akai is dicking around with it's customers at this point....


If I was going at it again, I would wait till the new year and check the OS for an up date... and then only get it if it was a big sale price.

so far the 4000 could be the dopest machine out there, but it's not because the OS is majorly **** up and the AKAI doesn't seem to be fixing it any time soon.....

It's just my opinion but I can't see a new mpc user getting a mpc4000 right away. For the price of the 4000 you could get a mpc2000xl w/zip and ram upgrade, a technics turntable and a good amount of records to start of with, all under $2000. Or you can get the mpc2000xl and a really nice keyboard or a rack sound module for less than a 4000.

$2000- Are they Australian dollars or American??

it's USA money, I don't know what your conversion rate is but in the U.S. the mpc2000xl is 1200$, and a technics SL-1200mkII turntable is 450$ or less if you shop around.

I went for the MPC2000XL

I played a bit with it today; I found out how to sample sounds from the analogue inputs.
I couldn't figure out how to build a loop, but tomorrow I've got the whole day experimenting with it.

I need to phone the purchaser tomorrow to find out about something, cause when I'm playing the sampled sounds, I'm hearing a squeky sound along the sampled sound.
