Picking up radio on my mixer?

What gives, Im using a home stereo receiver with a tuner for monitoring. Ive tried everything from disconnecting the antenna to grouping wires, no crossing electrical and audio wires, etc. Problem persists.

i get that every now and then. we even get it at work sometimes, and we got super high quality stuff there. is it like trucker radio? thats what i will get. once in a blue moon i will get a 'har huhblahblohhar heehuhhu' jibber jabber truck talk as a truck with a really big antenna drives by. you live near an interstate? i do.

unfortunately, i dont know what else you can do if you checked your cables and everything. build an iron plated wall around your studio maybe think about getting a new amp. i use a receiver at home too. i been thinking about getting some powered monitors myself.

It sounds like damn AM. Talk radio mang. argh. Tryin do music and I hear voices blabbering about Arnold and the recall.

A mic preamp has to be able to amplify faint one-millivolt2 input signals up to a thousandfold (60dB). In the process, its rectification components can also pick up radio frequency interference (RFI) from AM and FM stations, cell phones, and pager transmitters – even microwave ovens – and amplify them to audible levels.

I was experiencing quiet radio signals on one of my two new monitors, and had never picked this up with my cheapass speakers before. I went on a hunch and asked someone at Guitar Center (that unholy realm which sucks my wallet dry on a far too regular basis) bout it.

Sho nuff, it was a bad electrical signal. And this was voltage coming from a fairly nice surge protector unit, I can't remember the brand off hand. Anyhow, I picked up a 60 buck power conditioner and the problem has entirely disappeared. I also got a cool way of killing both monitors' power (along with my PC monitor, HD recorder and other gear I always use simultaneously) while still maintaining a great surge protection out of it. 8 outlets, rack mounted to my new desk working fine. (did I mention the Guitar Center problem?)

Trip of this, it was the 2000XL picking up signals when it was turned off. The MPC60 is solely hooked up right now and the AM is gone.
