midi keyboard with my mpc

midi keyboard (basic, no sequencer) to : MPC2000

I rec my keyboard sounds with my mpc sequencer, using midi connections. But there is one problem: I cant rec a sound in track1 and record another sound in track 2. example: i play somethin with the keyboard and i rec with the midi sequencer, i change the sounds on my keyboard and rec on another track...both track have the same sounds !!

what can I do ?

Make sure Local Control is OFF and its setup for multimode(more than one midi channel accessible)

Is the keyboard capable of more than one voice polyphony?

Not to be an arse, but read the manual, this and the local control setup etc are probably in the midi setup section or something.

I think that keyboard has a limitied number of midi channels it can transmit. Im still doing some research on it. If you. have the manual read up on its MIDI capability. I cant really find much information on your keyboard but i dont think it has Multimode but i could be wrong.

yo charles, i believe it's your midi routing. make sure your mp reads 01device01 if you want to lay a track across midi channel one. Oppositely with your midi keyboard make sure it's on midi channel one. When you want to lay that second track don't forget to go back to mpc and set it to 02device02, and make sure you midi keyboard says midi channel 2 and so on..
