Triggering MPC with Pro Tools or vice-versa

I can't seem to figure this out. I got the MIDI cables set up where the out of the MPC is on the in of the Digi 001. And the out of the Digi is on the in of the MPC. I messed with all the Midi settings on Pro Tools and MPC but no luck. All I want is the MPC to play when I record on Pro Tools or Pro Tools to start recording when I hit play on the MPC. Can somebody with this set up tell me how to set up Pro Tools and the MPC? This would make life a little easier. Thanx.

you have to send midi beat clock from pt to mpc. then make sure that mpc is set to receive beat clock, not time code, from pt. once thats good to go, pt should trigger mpc.
