Please Help... Vsti problem

hello all.

I have a problem. I am running a Windows PC as a sound module and using Cubase SX as my "menu" for all my vstis. I use my mpc1000 as the main sequencer.

lets say i want to record a synth. To my understading, I set the mpc to midi, then set midi to 1A. In my computer, I would set the vsti as the output on that certain channel and the input to the midi input from my RME multiface.

When i do this, i can hear the vsti and sequence. The problem is on the second track where I would like to record bass on a second track. I go to track 2 on my mpc and set midi to 2A. When i try to record midi into the MPC, the synth mutes and the bass track starts playing with all midi data from the first track (synth). The first track is also does not play. This is frustrating because I cannot only use one track of music....

Under Midi in my MPC i have:

active receive track: ALL
soft thru: to track

Is there anything I am doing wrong or need to look out for?

yeah, click on the INPUT TRANSFORMER and choose LOCAL for the midi channel you are using and add a new line and set FILTER TARGET to Channel, CONDITION to UnEqual and PARAMETER 1.

Then click ACTIVE MODULE 1 and MODE AS FILTER.

do this for each midi channel though the PARAMETER must correspond to each channel.

then u can control each channel without it playing the same thing on each one.

Why can't I get it to work with that method? .. And what does that soft thru-thing mean anyway? It sounds **** up when I have it on "as track". How big of a difference does it make to have it off? Maybe that's the whole reason to why it won't work, and if that's the case, does anyone know why it sounds like crap everytime I have it on "as track" ?

If that didn't make any sense, it's because I haven't slept all night, and I'm about to die at the moment.
