They basically have the same options but Classic has more of it. For example, LE has I think 100,000 note max and Classic has like what 300,000 I think. Stuff like that. Also the classic has more input effects and 2 master effects. LE I think has one master effect route. I have an XL
and a Triton classic 61 key. Good combination.

what are your thoughts on buyin one off of ebay

ebay is cool but:

use escrow.com, this allows you to take the deck to a repair shop who can check it out for you to make sure it all works, then the escrow company sends them the loot, anyone who dont wanna use escrow is shady, cuz escrow ensures that neither party gets ripped, he dont ship it to you till the escrow company is holding the loot and you got a week to check it out, and then they send the loot. If its broken you tell them and send dude back his deck.

also, man most triton classics go for like 1100-1500 on ebay, which is about 300-500 less then a new one, BUT with the 140 dollar korg rebate and the free expansion board, its worth it to save and get a new one, (the 140 rebate is gonna be right before a price drop, so I bet by jan. 1 the triton 61 classic will be selling for closer to 1600-1700 new, cuz of increased comp. from Roland (fantom) and yamaha (motif).)
a lot of peeps like the sounds from the motif, and they are phat, no doubt about that, but Tritons touch screen is the money.

I don't like Ebay cause of the same reason Foo described.
The touch screen is the bread and butter but the motif got the triton on sounds hands down. The triton got the motif on effects IMO but that's still an debatable issue with most people.

Ease of use, I would say the triton. I've played with the motif and I couldn't get with it even after a few hours. The FIRST time I got on a triton I was doing what I had to do in about 30 minutes just to get a good hang of it. But you know machines have personalities just people. Some you can get along with some you can't you know..

Hey, Ive got a triton for sale...check it out at speeklyf.com on the for sale page. I've owned it for about a year now but dont really use it much for the fact that I bought it because of its rep as being a great keyboard than realized after that it wasnt really for me in terms of my sound and feel like it gets neglected when I could sell it and buy something I'd use more often. So if your seriously looking for one and would be interested contact me and I'd be more than happy to go through escrow or whatever other security measures are out there to make you feel comfortable that you aint gettin ripped off...

i own a motif classic and many people say its hard to understand. Not really it just that your use to something different. With the motif you just got to get use to pushing buttons. if i was you i would hold off on the triton till after jan 15 winter namm. There is a rumor becasue of all the comp from yamaha that korgmay drop a new work station..and just like with the motif classic when the motif es came out the motif classic prices drop. when the triton prices do drop im gona get me a rack depending on the keyboard price i might get that. if the rumor is true and korg drops a new work station and its not over price like most of korg products im just say"you only live once and get it" but also know anything that comes out at namm wont be in the stores for at lease another 3 or 4 months march or aprill....i knew something was in the air cause of how korg now got this 140 rebates and it keep saying rebate deal over x/xx/xx then it gets extended...just lets you know they really trying to sale these things as much as they can before they drop something new.

That's what's up then...

which has more sounds...the Triton or Motif

useful sounds that is...I'm not talkin 50 different horns I'm talkin like horns, and just weird sounding shit, stuff that sounds different...I think I'm gonna go play with them at the music store today see what I come up with...

good lookin on the heads up wit the rebate/price drop situation

with ease of use not in the equation (mainly 'cause I plan to be midi'd up with the MP and doin most of the sequencing there)...which is the better buy?

Aw man, you need to do some searching on the internet for how much sound ROM is in each keyboard. Your asking some quesitons that you could have had the answers to already homie. Also check for expansion boards available for each keyboard.

word. that is what I been hollering too~

Its a pretty standard practice, attract last minute buyers at the old price by throwing in some stuff, I think you also get a free xpansion board too, and an extended warranty. That's basically throwing in an extra 240 or so bux (140 for the rebate and I bet the cost per board is like 100 bux or so for the deal to them)
so basically I bet the price drop will be in the 300-350 dollar range making a 61 classic cost about 1500-1600 out the door, much more comperable with the motif "classic".

I mean the triton is cool, but is getting left behind by other boards.

My apologies, but I'm just that slow when it comes to RAM, ROM, and all that other Tech. stuff...bear with me...

I've looked at the Specs, but for the most part it's all greek to me

as far as I gather Ram is working memory, Rom is space to save stuff, right? who knows...I don't much care

as long as when I bang the buttons and the noise comes out I'm good...synth voices, and timbral and this and that...

I'm new to the keyboard thing...if there's a "Specs for Dummies" point me in the direction...I'd be overjoyed to get past that jargon barrier

Naw man, I didn't mean to sound rude or anything. There are big differences in the 2 keyboards.

as far as I gather Ram is working memory, Rom is space to save stuff, right? who knows...I don't much care
ROM are the sounds that can only be loaded. You read from ROM, work and create within RAM and save to disk, that's pretty much all samplers. You need to care because the amount of RAM has alot to do with your technique as to how much dynamic memory you have to work with. 2kxl uses RAM dynamically, meaning Everything it does is in RAM, sequences, songs, programs AND samples, it is only saved when you save to disk cause when the power goes off it's gone and RAM has no power to live off of.

as long as when I bang the buttons and the noise comes out I'm good...synth voices, and timbral and this and that...

I'm new to the keyboard thing...if there's a "Specs for Dummies" point me in the direction...I'd be overjoyed to get past that jargon barrier

To understand the limitations of each piece of gear you have you gotta understand at least a little computer speak sometimes. It helps to know as much as you can, that also contributes to the way you work within and around the 2kxl.

The truth is for what we all pay for a keyboards the what we do with them we are all getting f--ck. to pay 1900 for keyboard just for its sounds are crazy. Dont get me wrong i paid full price for a motif 6 and i got to say i may only know about 25 to35 percent of what it can do and that just because i have ampc and i use keyboards for its sounds...i was thinking about buying the motif es but the only thing that reall grabs me is the 185mb of ram.....so let me ask my self what will i not use on the motif( its drum sounds, its seq...its sampler and so on) all these things cost hundresds of dollars things im paying for and will never use so im looking for keyboard the will on my side like my girl for a long time....to me the perfect keyboard would just be a keyboard that gives you everything these keyboards have but lets create your own sounds and store them in the keyboard so when you turn your power on they are there, no loading time and you can also add effects and inserts them....kind of like the mpc. thats what makes the mpc so great not because of its limits or its easiness but for the fact i can have sounds that you may not and in five years i can have more sounds...i just wish i could save them to the system rom.
