Just a MIDI question.

I was wondering about how i have my mpc configured (in Midi/Sync Mode) im using an Alesis Micron synth(which is multi-timbral) i've made beats using some synth(im not real big on keyboard beats-i use for bass and other things) but shoul i have my MPC's soft thru to AS TRACK or OMINI-A(im using midi i-1 o-A) and i currently have the MPC set to OMINI-A and my synth in Multi-Midi Channel? * Im wondering this cuz if i wanna get real thick on synth tracks i want to be able to use the multi-timb mode(SETUP-on Alesis Micron) to the fullest and not have any problems.. is that ur only synth u got for ur mpc1000? if so heres what u do for midi setup. well its an option out of many midi setups for mpc1000.

hook the mpc1000 out to ur micron in
micron in to mpc1000 out

now turn on both machines in the mpc1000 go to ur mode+pad9 select in active track recieve channel select all and soft thru: as track

sequence to change by program:off

now select main and in type select midi
in midi select 1a or 1b whereever on the back u got ur mpc out hooked to ur micron will tell u if its a or b
now for selecting instruments theres the pgm: select no. 1 if u arent hearing sound select window on the no.1 and ull get a new window on ur midi program set it up from there till u get results u want.

on ur micron before all this u should turn off local control off read ur manual for how this is done on the micron as well as assigning midi channels to ur sounds and that should be it reply back if u need more help ill gladly walk u through this

yo, i created a setup on my synth and then just made sequences using each part of my setup a+MPC 1a, partb of setup=MPC2a...etc... and everything seemed fine (with the MPC still set at OMINI-A) now with the MPC set to AS TRack what difference will this make? and also for PGm where it says NO.1,NO.2, etc.. do i leave it at NO.1 or do i change it for each part of the setup? I've had my gear for 5 months now..and im just breakin the surface...i just wanted to see what everone elses opinion or experience was/is> Thanx in advance. Naugie-thanx man. yes the micron is my only synth for now...always expanding and growin,tho!

alright in midi: on the main window of ur mpc itll look like midi: 1a if it saids that thats ur midi outA on the back of ur mpc. if u got a synth hooked into midi outA ur option of selecting those sounds from ur synth on mpc would be in midi:1a 2a 3a to 16a, same goes with a synth hooked on ur mpc midi outB.

now even though these synth have more preset sounds than ur default 16 channel selected sounds, to select a certain sound into ur channel 1a ull need to use the pgm: no.1 change that one to a 4. now ur able to use sound 4 instead of sound1 but its still channel 1, but ya this is how u select the sounds from ur synth. as for recording events on ur new synth onto mpc when ur recording u can turn a dial well go with a cutoff and the mpc will record the cutt off. the mpc1000 doesnt stop recording after the bar is done if say ur demo is a bar long. i always avoid having the mpc **** my event recording by just turning off the loop feature in the main window and i then trunicate my bars back to the correct size agin. this way my events are smooth and not colliding with eachother, ull see what i mean about events colliding.
