MOOG sounds

Looking to get the classic bass sounds of a MOOG without droppin the cash for the real deal. What are some alternatives for me. I'm looking for a cheap alternative (I'd say no more than $300-$400) and I don't want software. Basically, is there a rack of sounds that covers some of the vintage instruments, one of which would include a moog (Did emu make a vintage keys rack?). Also, what is the best soundkit available to throw into my MPC if I choose to go that way. It could be a kit I need to pay for or if it's downloadable for free, that'd be awesome, but I want it to be really good. Looking to expand on my options for basslines and want to take this direction. Thanks in advance for the help.

...and how are the Proteus sounds...basically, I have a microKorg, but I want more choices for sounds...mainly basslines, but other sounds would be good too. I like the sounds of a lot of vintage machines..I produce mainly using samples (MPC 1000) and production wise, I would say I am influenced by Madlib, J Dilla, and Thes One more than anybody else. Help me out here. What do you think I should do?

microkorg's don't sound like moog's but....

you can always tweak presets and create your own sounds on the microkorg...if you don't like that, or its too hard for you...then you could look at some of the older Roland synths with lots of knobs, faders and buttons for a more hands on experience.


Also, tube compressors... tube pre-amps and eq can make you get that Dilla, Madlib, ect...sound if you just experiement and use your ears.

you shouldn't limit yourself by demanding hardware only. Many moog fans love the Moog Modular V 2.0 software and its below ur budget. Bob Moog himself approves of its quality and sound. use technology to ur advantage.

Buy a Moog Opus 3 off ebay. I got mine for around $500, and its probably the best purchase ive ever made.

Although, a microkorg with some quality pres(as mentioned above) can create some breathtaking results. Although that adds up to around the same price as the moog i mentioned above..

i got the MFB-SYNTH LITE2 which kicks a** for only 230€ the oscillators are digital while the 24db lowpass is analog.

there is a crazy vst called minimogue va,its free and sound superb. try it before you spend cash on hardware.
