Keyboard w/o sequencing

I've been looking at keyboards for the last week...mainly the Triton, and the Fantom...

they run in about the 1-2G range. They offer sequencing, but I intend to do all of the sequencing in the 2kxl, is there a board out there that can deliver the sound quality, as well as selection as the Triton? for around $500

you could probably find a mc-505 on e-bay for around $500 and possibly cheaper, has a bunch of real time knobs and stuff to tweek out your sounds...has midi outs too

In a word.....NO! BUT, that's not to say that you can't make great music with a "lesser" board. E-MU makes some very good sounding keyborads that range from 399.00 to 579.00 and the sounds from these boards have been used in plenty of commercial recordings. You can also expand these boards with expansoin roms geared towards specific styles of music.

The E-MU Proteus or Mo Phatt keyboards are pretty nice. I think the price dropped. Check Guitar Center or Zzounds.

get a trinity, almost all the sounds from the triton, efx, and seq. but no sampling, and it has a touch screen too ( imho the screen is what makes the triton phat, its as close as you can get to a pc style setup in a hardware deck)

if all you need is sounds, look at buying a sound module
most manfuc. sound modules are expandable and have
the same sounds as their synths

Yup on the Trinity. Dr. Foo is right. And if you're talking 'bout modules, go for the Trinity Rack and save a little more cheez. Do some research on Harmony-Central.com and at the GasStation.com to learn more about various synths and modules and then seek out a cheapie. I saw some old school stuff today online for $250. It's not a bd thing to have an older synth. As for the final sound quality, it's all in the mix... sometimes.
