you would run the midi out form the controller into the midi in of the motif rack. If you want the 002r to control the tempo and start and stop of the sequences then you would also connect the midi out from the 002r into the midi in of the yamaha controller. Does the yamaha have a sequencer on it , or are u using ProTools as you sequencer? You are gonna have to find out how to make your yamaha synch upwith Protools. Hope this helps.Good Luck

You can use the 002r to controller your midi. So You would have the Midi out of the 002r going into the Motif rack. Why? Because the only thing you are controller is the Motif rack as the controller has no sounds in it right? You would then have the midi out from the yamaha going into the midi in of the 002r. Now with it set up this way you will need Protools to be up and you will have to select the right midi channels to hear the sounds you want. For example , if you want to hear the sound of the Motif channel 7 you will need to have Protools midi on midi channel 7. Good Luck.

Just in case but:
Midi Out of your Digi to Midi In of your Motif and the other way around. Plug your audio out of the Motif into the Digi because midi cables do not carry audio signals.
Do it this way and you can be sure you hooked it up correctly. To hear the sound you'll have to choose the right midi channel in PtLe.
