sites for downloading recording software (your suggestions)

Right now I'm trying to get to that next level. Everybody goes thru that phase where they are a new jack to the producing game, and that's where I'm at. After the new year I should have a good mixer, maybe that mackie dfx--but I'm trying to piece everything together for my own home set-up. Any suggestions on the sites would be helpful.

There's a free 8 Track version of pro tools available on the pro tools site.

You should be able to find something of use (free or not) on one of these sites:

They list both free and commercial software, a good resource site. :)
