Mackie DFX12 vs. Roland VS880 What's better for the MPC2000?

I've been planning on replacing my current mixer with the Mackie but have hear the Roland digital 8 track is also good for the job. Any suggestions as to which is better and why? Thanks a LOT in advance!!

Digital is pretty good because of the ultra low noise, and extra features, i.e. multi effects, and so on. But take this into consideration.... Mackie mixers rule the analogue mixing world. The mixers are built like tanks, and the sound processing is comparable to digital. I chose the DFX12 because it serves just the right purpose for me. If I ever feel the need to get a biger digital mixer, I will save up the flow, and purchase that as well. Something I have found, is with an ever so expanding studio, you can never have too much mixer. If you dont like one choice, save up and get the other.

Choose carefully though if you go analogue. There are alot of Rip off brands out there.

I suggest you get the mackie 1402VLZ PRO. The Mackies witht the built in FX really suck and the FX are horrible in my opinion. The 1402VLZ PRO is very Low Noise and has more inputs. Its a little more $$$ but I think you would be happier.

I have used Mackie for a long time (I have a 24 channel 8 bus) and have had no problems what so ever.

and although I hated it when I first got it, I'm not ever getting rid of it. Its just a pain to learn though, and thats what was turning me off. I like it because it resembles a simple 4 track setup, but much more improved, although not quite as simple at first.. I don't think you can record on the mackies, but on the Roland you can. Its an 8 track. It just depends on if your looking for a mixer only or an 8 track.
