Triton Extreme and MPC

unfortunately this is another "can someone walk me through the setup" thread.

but i just need some human interaction now, ive gone through so many manuals and tutorials that have helped alot, but i need that final bit.

so this is my current situation, i have the following.

An MPC 1000, and a triton extreme, 4 midi cables running from mpc out>triton in and vise versa.

now i have two problems, one has gone and come back, when i try to play the triton sounds (any random program) the mpc sounds play on some of the keys aswell, i HAD gotten rid of that but it appears to be back and i dont kno why, discconnectiong the MPC midi out didnt help either, im just lost on that one)


the next problem has been talked about on here and other places, but i cant seem to put th elogic into action.

if i record triton sounds into an MPC track thats fine, i set the triton midi channel to 1, and the midi channel of the MPC track to 1a, it works. then i go to play a new triton sound on a new MPC track, switch the triton to channel 2, and the midi track to channel 2a, great it works. but i want to kno if theres a way to here both of them playing back, right now its either one or the other (to play the first sound again i go to the first track, and i have to switch the midi chanel on the triotn back to 1)

Basically what i would LIKE to do, is play the triton sounds, and record them into the MPC on seperate tracks for sequencing purposes.

up until now ive been doing this through midi, but im imagining that audio would be slightly easier, if you are un able to explain the midi hookup i need, plz give the audio hookup a try

First of all, midi does not carry audio, I dont know if you have a mixer with the outs of both your keys and your MPC goin into it, but that'l b the 1st thing so u can hear sounds from both machines through you heaphones/monitors. The reason why your hearing MPC sounds when you playing the triton keys is probably becuase on the track you have selected on the MPC you still have a selected program, change this to program off (btw this is in the main screen). Everytime you start a new track an MPC program is going to be there so you have to change it to off with every midi track you want and also select Midi on the left hand side were it says drum. I have never used a triton in my short lifetime b4 but your midi channel problem seems to be with the triton, this is only a guess judging by my keyboard and i could very well b wrong, but make sure you are in multitimbral (thats not how u spell it ) mode, it sounds as if you are in performing patched and can only select 1 midi channel at a time.

I explained the audio set up above, midi is your best option for sequencing in the MPC, you only other option is to record you keyboard as a sample on the MPC but i dont c y ne one would bother, U will then need to record your final beat into a computer or external recorder if you want it recorded. that did help. yes i left out the fact i have my outs into a mixer and can hear both sounds already, im gunna have to look through my manual for the "multitimbral" mode cus that sounds like my problem, and yes i realize now that a program was still selected. thanks, ill update the thread when i figure it out.

sed. mode is workin great but i seem to have run into a new problem.

i have strings on my midi channel 1 goin to the MPC, and everytime i play a new sound on a diff channel it seems like the strings are still playing along with them. i dont understand why, there not on the same midi chanel or anything

I had this same problem The other day but anyway.
Try it in muti mode.
I have the motif but I am sure its the same.

if i buy 2 midi in and out cables and put it in my keyboard to mpc 1000, will that connect them both properly. Also, do i need a usb keyboard to connect it to my pc, because my keyboard is only midi.

ye thanks i got that already, its sequence mode on the triton, but now im just wondering why strings are playing along with all ny other sounds

Yes that will be enough, midi in to the midi out and vice versa. To connect the keyboard to the computer u dont need to buy a new keyboard, you could either but a sound card with midi ins and outs or you could buy an m-audio midi uno (search that on GCs website n ull see what i mean).

^^^ have you remembered to change the sound on the keyboard aswell as change it to the correct midi channel?

ye thats the wird thing, new channel on both the keys and the track (MPC) and a new sound on the keys aswell, it DOES play the new sound, but aswell as playing it, it plays the stings along with it, so if i had it set to a piano its piano keys with strings behind them. i dont kno why its doing it, or how to get rid of it

try turning local control off on the triton...
