finding a enough inputs on mixer

me and my friend are puting our equipment together to create a production studio fro us to make beats together. MY friend has a MPC-4000 with a motif 7 and virus. I have a triton,emu 2500 sound module, turntables and a dj mixer. The only problem were having is finding a mixer that has enough inputs to connect all of the outs from the equipment to. Do you know a mixer that has at least 30 inputs. All together there are a toal of 30 outputs on our equipment. Can someone help is there a better way of doing this?

If you need something now, and would like to split the cost with you pal, get two seperate mixers, that together equal the amount of inputs you need. Just link them together.

better to get a large 32 channel 8 bus mixer. mackie 32-4 or 32-8

might be good to get a bigger one if you can.

If you're not using tons of outs on the MPC or Triton, grab an Allen&Heath Mix Wizard, those are tight as hell. 16 ins, built in effects, a shitload of EQ options, and it's rackable, doesn't take up too much space.

I've messed with them in a studio around here, and it's a kickass piece for the money. Much cheaper than the Mackie, though of course not as versatile.

If you can only afford a smaller mixer get a patch bay or two, that way you can connect all of the Outs of you gear to it, and all of the in to the mixer and then use patch cables to connect it all together.

its hard to explain how it works but I will try.


a tipical patch bay has 48 1/4 inch inputs on the front and back (the one on the front is connected to the one on the back). What you do is connect all of your gear to lets say the first 32 back inputs in groups like 1-6 for the virus, 7-10 for the Motif, and 11-18 for the MPC etc....

Then you connect each channel of your mixer to the back of the second patchbay.

then you take short 1-2 foot 1/4 inch cables called patch cables to connect the instrument on patch bay #1 to the mixer input on patch bay #2.

This allows you to use only the equipment you need for the project your doing. you most likely will not be using all kits outs at once.

Go out and get a 16 channel mixer and a couple of patch bays and you should be set and you will also pay alot less than you would for a good 32 channel mixer (stay away from behringer) a good 32 channel mixer will cost over $2500

A Mackie 1604 vlz pro or Allen and Heath 16 channel mixer would be great along with a Hosa or DBX patch bay. YOur patchbay's instructions will let you know how to set up your system once you get it.
