The Echo Layla 24/96

what do you all think about the echo layla 24/96 being used both for beat transfer and recording do you think its a good buy.
And how clear is it recording wise if anyone uses it.

I have the Echo Layla myself and have been generally pleased with the outcome but you must be care before buying it because there are some mother boards it is not compatible with. It does have some features that I am extremely pleased with such as the input monitors, WDM purewave driver as well as support for all OS's on Mac and PC. Oh and the input options are great and laptop caribus is a kool feature too.

The sound is clean but there are other cards out there that can do just as much at a cheaper price without ADAT inputs such as the MOTU 828MKII or the M-Audio Delta 1010. I'll also add that if you can do without that many ins/outs you should take a good look at the Echo MiaMidi. I really hope that Echo develops that virtual output driver for their other products. It's great for monitoring multiple programs at the same time.

I've had it for over 3 years now, I've had some great compliments from some very knowledgable studio owners about how good the converters are. It has worked perfectly, no headaches. It has the extra stuff like optical in/out, s/pdif, and wordclock, also it has midi. I could have done without all of that, I got it planning to use the optical in/out in the future but have never had the opportunity to use it, I have a seperate midi interface also. If you don't need the extras then there is probably something cheaper($) that will be better for you.
