I'm Thinking of getting a effect processor but how much will that do for me.
Could'nt I just run the beats straight into cubase and add the effects to my beats.

You can do effects either way.. Onboard or Outboard.

More versatility and options outbard
vs
Ability to travel with MPC w/eb16 installed and no PC required.

im all about outboard effects: more knobs to mess with and buttons to hit in real time... dont pay too much for them, though... buy used! a crappy malfunctioning digital delay pedal may be worthless if yer after a "prisitne" sound, but if it makes a sound then it might be the perfect thing you need to spice up your beats... also, if you have the cash, look at some of the moogerfogger boxes or the joe meek tube compressors as these machines have an all analogue signal path which will give you a different sound quality (especially good if everything else you have is digital).

of course in the long run, you can get software emulations at a fraction of the price, but i assume since you are using a mpc you are already half-way sold on the idea of pieces of hardware filling up space in you studio...

if you do go this route the 8 output board is a must
