for those knowledgable about MIXERS

what would be a logical choice for a good mixer. I'm willing to spend up to about 8 bills, looking for at least 24 tracks with as many inputs. I'm looking for precise details about manufacturers, quality of sound, build and resale value. thanks.

At 699.00 you're not gonna find anything else with the same features in that price range. I can't speak on the sound quality of this board but the functionality will make the recording process much easier. If I were in the market for an 8 bus analog mixer this is probably what I'd go with. I always get gear that I'm not too sure about from on-line retailers cuz they have cool return policies, try it for 30-45 days, if you don't like it send it back for a full refund. Local music stores usualy have a 15% restocking fee.

I know behringer has a mixer that will fit your $800 budget, but I don't know anyone that has used it, so I can't tell you anything about it.. actually, I think it's a 32 track mixer. How much equipment do you have? Do you really need 24 tracks? I used to want a mixer with lots of inputs, but now, I think it's all about the outputs, and how easy it is to direct the sound to where you want it to go. You may need digital outs, you might have other samplers to connect so the more AUX outputs, the better. Do you have an outboard effects processor? Personally, I use the Yamaha 01V, but the bad thing about digital mixers is that there is no headroom.. if you see the meter hitting the red, you get digital noise, or a glitch sound in your music.. with analog, you can hit the red once in a while and it will still sound good. You can use some digital mixer like an analog one tho. I hope I'm not confusing you, but I just don't want you to go out there and buy a mixer based on price and inputs.

my new toy. im just waiting on delivery.

It was $300 on eBay weighs in at 140lbs with the flight case, $400 including shipping. its a tascam m320-b. i did a google search and theres a couple of samll studios that charge an hourly rate and use these so I figured it was a better value than a Mackie or Behringer. plus it got VU meters...

hahaha!!! you should see my wardrobe...i think the last time i bought kicks over $30 was in high school (payless shoe source boots, all day long baby...hey they look exactly like Lugz). And Mesh, I seen the Rhodes in your studio flick. =)

But truth be known I returned my Microkorg to Guitar Center for this mixer. All the gear I use and re-sell or return keeps my dough count steady and keeps me motivated, by no means pimpin large (-)

I'll let yall know how it sound compare to Behringer ( i own he MX1604A) and Mackie (I used to own a 1604).

thats that wersi thing i was talking about a few weeks ago. its aight, very unique sounding but i can almost cop a filtered down rhodes type sound out of it. i feel you on the wardrobe, thank god for christmas time and parents who know i aint got sh*t in the closet!
