digi recorder or comp., or ,or???

so ive got some beats ready to record. my gear is limited: mpc2000xlstudioplus, novation ks4, vestax pdx-2000's and pmc-05pro, dbx 266xl compressor, patchbay, and some shady monitors. my question for the mpc massive is what route do i go into recording? i am not using my computer yet and i kinda like it that way. roland digi recorder, mackie desk to adat, or a tape deck?? thanks.

Thats a tough question cause the answer depends on how you like to work and how you sequence your beats, if you got em all laid out in song mode and have an effects unit (which you dont) i'd go for the mixer and ADAT just to have knobs and live mutes to tweak. If you want to do cut n paste jobs and have access to cheap digital effects go for the Roland (they sound really good though).

If you want to stick with hardware Akai has some nice workstations, the DPS24 is real nice(if I hadn't already invested so much time and money in Pro Tools I'd get it.) If the DPS24 is a little too expensive for you then the DPS16 can be found on ebay for around 800.00.

thanks for the quick replies. another question: does an akai dps or a roland digi-recorder allow me to just mix the signals to monitor before recording w/o too much hassle? in other words can i use it as a mixer for jam sessions on the decks, mpc, and keys?
