HELP!! Anyone who has a digital 8 track hooked up to the mpc

ok here's my dillema:

I own an amp, a dj mixer, a turntable, and a digital roland 8 track.

Now my original setup without the 8 track, had my dj mixer as the main piece of equipment. My mpc and turntable were hooked up to my dj mixer, which was hooked up to my amp.

Now that i have this 8 track, how exactly do i hook these 4 pieces of equipment up? And as far as the 8 track, what chords/wires do i need to hook it up to whatever needs to be hooked up? Thank you GREATLY in avance!!

I have a similiar set-up so I hope this helps:
Leave the dj mixer and turntable connected as is, just hook-up the dj mixer output into the digital mixer (preferably line in, I'll tell u y in a sec). If you have the 8 output in your MPC, then hook-up each output to each input on the digital mixer. If not, then hook-up the main output on the MPC to the digital mixer (whichever track input you want). The digital mixer has a main output that you should hook-up to your amp and a line out that you should hook-up to your MPC. That way, you can sample off your turntable thru your digital mixer. That should do it. The reason I said you should try to use line in (dj mixer to roland mixer) 'cause that way, you can listen to your turntable thru the digital mixer. As far as cables go, you'll need rca cables, y-adapters (L/R rca female to 1/4" male) and 1/4" male cables to plug everything together. Any local Radio Shack should have them. Peace...

thanks a lot but one more thing about the cables:

what would be the difference between hooking up each of my 8 outs to the 8 track, as opposed to just the line out? and if i was to to do the first, what kind of cables would i need exactly? (8 cables i assume?)

and as far as the rest, dj mixer to the roland would use what cables exactly? (sorry i'm not very familiar with cables!) what exactly is male or female cables?

and i've noticed my 8 track has only a single input as opposed to left and right like rca's for example. what exactly would i need for that?

could you talk me through what specific cable goes to what in the entire setup? (amp, dj mixer, roland 8 track, turntable)

I GREATLY appreciate the help....

1) The difference would be greater flexibility in mixing down each of your tracks individually as opposed to trying to mix down with the MPC. It's alot easier to punch in/out individual tracks, adjust volume, pan, etc. with your digital mixer than muting tracks, changing sequences, etc. when mixing down with the MPC. You'll need 1/4" male shielded patch cables (I use 6ft cables) to hook-up your MPC 8 outs to the digital mixer 8 inputs.
2)You should use RCA cables. One plug is red (for the right channel) and one plug is white (for the left channel). Female cables are the one's with the hole in them and the male cables are, well, the male cable.
3) You'd need a rca female y-adapter. I'm assuming the digital mixer has a 1/4" input, so you'll need a 1/4" rca female y-adapter. You'll take the rca cable attached to your line out in your dj mixer, plug it into the rca y-adapter, which you'd plug into your digital mixer input.
FYI: Be careful not to have your dj mixer volume too loud because that is what will control your turntable volume thru your digital mixer. Along with your digital mixer's main output going thru your amp (which will be outputting your MPC tracks also), I'd hate to hear that you blew out your monitor speakers. i really appreciate the help, dan. just one more thing: so i use rca's to hook up the 8 track to the amp, but as far as hooking up my dj mixer (which has my mpc hooked up to it) to my 8 track, the 8 tracks input options are either midi (in & out) or digital (in and out). which one of these do i connect my dj mixer to? thanks again my man.

The digital inputs. I'm assuming that the input jacks are either rca inputs or 1/4" inputs. Are they? If not, I believe you'd have to use one of your 8 inputs on the digital mixer. You'll lose one input from your MPC, but that's cool. You could always bounce tracks to make room for more tracks. I'm not sure if you're familiar w/ bouncing tracks, but basically it's moving/condensing multiple tracks down to one track (i.e., taking tracks 1 thru 8, and mixing them like you want, then 'bouncing' all of them down to track 1, leaving tracks 2 thru 8 open to record more tracks.)
