i have an MPC and two modules. so far i am able to just connect each module to a channel on the MPC. i will soon add a couple more modules to this setup and I am pretty happy doing all my midi sequencing with the MPC, recording the audio into my computer and mixing down in there. my question is what piece of equipment will I need to still have my MPC as my main midi sequencer and have it control multiple modules (more than two)? i do not need to send midi information to my computer, the MPC will take care of all that, i just need it to control the modules.
I know I could daisy chain the modules but is there a cleaner way of doing this?
Also, How do i send midi information to the MPC so that if i save mulitple sequences, the MPC can tell the modules what instrument to use for each channel. I know this has something to do with sys ex information, can someone clear rhis up for me?

thanks for your help... and good luck with your beatmakeing in 2004!

telling what module to play what sound involves program change (not sysex). Daisy chins will work fine for most purposes... set up each module so it plays on a different midi channel (1-16). the mpc has two midi outs so you could have up to thirty two modules daisy chained together (sixteen for each out). if you want each module to play on more than one channel however, things will be more difficult. you need to read the midi spec for each module.

if i were you i would set it up at first so each module has its own channel and that channel corresponds to a track.

have you done a search on this forum yet? im sure this has all been explianed before.
