I need some help deciding between which keyboard.

3725 D-halo
Micro Korg
What if any experience do you guys have with these keyboards.
I need to add a keyboard to my arsenal but not realy sure which way to go. I don't have funds for a Triton or a workstation but all three of the ones listed above are 400 bones. Let me know what the deal is. Thanks. Stashy

back to your question. just a suggestion. why not get a midi controller like MIDIMAN radium and then by any used sound module. You can get roland JV1010 for like $300 and that shit has mad sounds in it.

triton is sick and expensive but trust me you wont need all the sounds in it. Just get a controller and a sound module or even get a midi controler and get some free VST with million sounds in them then you good, but thats if you are using a computer though.

Is that like that Oxeygen 8 shit. I really don't understand how that works. You down load a sound on it then you have variations in sound when you play the keys like a normal keyboard.

The PK6 and the Halo are basically the same, they just have different roms, both can be expande with two or three more 32mb roms though. As far as which to get between the emu boards and the microkorg, it depends on what you want to do. If you want to sequence multiple tracks then you should go with emu as it will allow you to sequence 16 midi tracks with your MPC, if you're looking for a sound source to create fat basslines, leads and off the wall sounds then the microkorg is what you want. Just keep in mind that the microkorg is not multi timbral so you'll only be able to sequence one track with it(two at the most with some kind of layer if I'm not mistaken). You can always just sample whatever crazy sounds you create with the into the MPC. You can check out the preset list for the emu boards at http://www.emu.com.

i think the micro korg can send midi control messages with its five knobs (which are nice and chuncky) but i hear its kind of difficult to program at first (you have to get used to the editing system).

id pass on the pk-6 cause its going to sound out dated (it is after all just a sample set...though a good one and im not dissing it, its just any sample set becomes tired in a few years).

dont overlook the used keyboards, too... most areas in town have "musical pawn shops" where you can get a better keyboard then you could buy new in the same price range...

But Roger Troutman didn't use a Voccoder for his vocals, he used a Talk Box with a synth running through it. Trust me, I saw Zapp in concert very close up. The Voccoder and the Talk Box work and sound totally different, so just be sure you know what you're buying before hand and be sure that's really what you want.

check the novation ks4 for sounds. this synth may be dance oriented but you can do alot with the programming. alot. four parts to a program and 6 effects to each part. plus a vocoder and midi in out and thru. i dig the stacks of knobs to tweak to dial in a nice bass. i just need to figure out how to program a good rhodes sound......any help?

thanks for the PM but i know what you mean. a vocoder and talkbox is different.
a vocoder modulates one sound with another (thats what im gonna use the microkorg for) while a talkbox sends the audio through a tube into your mouth so you can use your mouth to modulate an instrument's sound (troutman used guitars and synths) as if it were coming from your vocal chords.
