MPC2000XL connection w/ Mbox

Whats up everyone.

so im thinking about getting a mbox pretty soon. I need to know how do I connect both of them. I went to Sam Ash today and the guy seemed clueless. Also I have been hearing I may need a midi interface in order to sync both? If so what type of midi interface will do good?


My setup:

MPC2000XL w/effects, w/o 8outs
2 technics
pc running xp (but thinking about upgrading to one of the pc's under a $1000 within the following site: http://duc.digidesign.com/showflat.php? ... =7&fpart=1

You just run 1/4 inch cables from the stereo outs on the MPC to the analog inputs on the MBox. You will need a seperate midi interface as the MBox doesn't have one, any simple usb or serial/parallel interface will do. I don't know what kind of cpu you're working with now but if you want to do serious work with PT you should definitely build or buy a new one with the components from the Digi user forum. The current "allenstein machine" that's posted is probably more then you need. You can build a solid pc for about 500-600 that will make your PT experience a pleasant one.
