pro tools keeps..

freezing up evertime i try to record a new track.

its fine when i open a new session, and i can listen to old ones.. but once i hit record, it freezes and basically stays like that..

im runnin a g4.

please help!

your description is a little vague, but try trashing your preferences first and see what that does. also ditch the digidesign database folder on your audio drive. then restart and see where that gets you.

Which error # are you getting? I can be of more help if I know exactly which dae error it's giving you.

Hit up the Protools Forum at www.digidesign.com ro search for errors there on there knowledge base using the error # . Peace.

well basically i can open a session in pro tools. i can edit old sessions as well as listen to them. i can add a new track but i when i hit record, it freezes. it doesnt give me an error number.. it just freezes..

i tried trashing the things in my trash. not sure what you mean my trashing preferences..

also tried restarting and no luck.

arrghhh

everytime you make a change in pro tools it adjusts your preferences. things like the screen scrolling, or editing options, whatever. anyways, they are in the digidesign folder in your system folder, at least on a mac, not sure on pc. just do a search in your computer for either protools preferences or digidesign preferences. find them and trash em then restart. you'll have to reset all your preferences now but this is a pretty common move when youre having strange problems. trash the prefs then see what happens.

In OS9, the Prefernces are in the Preference Folder within the System folder. On OSX, I'm not sure where it is... probably in the System folder or in the System Folder's Library Folder.
