Soundproofing...HELP!

I live in an old apartment building that is pretty well sound proofed...no complaints from either side, but the bass is shaking the apartment beneath me.

I have M-Audio BX-8's on Auralex MoPad foam mounts, but I think that the apartment space itself is acting as a conductor of the bass and transferring it to the apartment beneath.

What can I do to diffuse more of the bass transfer and dead up the room a little better...

Ideally i'd live in a foam encrusted bassment, but that's a couple years away.

Try getting some Auralex corner bass traps. They should help a little. Also, are your speakers close to the walls? If so, pull them about 3 feet away from the walls so the rear and the sides of the speakers are away from the walls. Hope this helps.

my studio is mad small...maybe if i put some foam behind the speakers? they have ports in the back...that might absorb some of the waves?

That should help. Put some at the opposite walls also.

try to decouple the monitors even more.... the mopads are great but try something under the speaker stands/desk they are on.

sound proofing effectively is very expensive.



kill anyone who posts about carpet or egg cartons.

thanks for that tip...i'm going to get some foam to isolate the desk and shelfing...

the floors are already carpeted and such...

any other ideas?
