? about tracking a beat from the MPC2000xl to the korg D1600

ok i went on the "search"mode and i could find my answer SO...

i wanna track my MPC2000xl beat to the D1600 by using MIDI...
i don't have the 8 outs on my MPC so i have to individualy track the beat

-so i plug the MIDI cables in and my audio cables in(sterio out of the MPC, mono into the d1600)
-on the D1600 i goto System-Sync-Clock Master
-and on my MPC i put it on Midi Clock

i wanna record each track from the MPC individualy into the D1600 so each track is on its own channel
"i tried this a couple weeks back and it worked so i go to try it again last night and its not working"

what am i forgeting please help

maybe you forget,in the D 1600 to go on the tempo track to make the necessery settings....by the way,i'm not sure that you have better sound when trackin' all of your MPC stuff,the best for me is to make the good settings in the MPC and then record only by the stereo out......hope that could help...(i use the MPC 2K and a Korg D16)

...midi out from D 1600 to midi in of the MPC and midi clock RECEIVE.....

yea i use the mpcxl and the d1600 too...
you don't think it would sound better tracked...
well i kinda wanted to do it like that so i can put effects on individual tracks and so i can sit down with the mc and mix it down how he would like it...

i use to rock with the d1600.

mpc midi out-->d16 midi in
d16 midi out-->mpc midi in
mpc stereo outs-->d16 in
watch yourself when going stereo to mono for phase. sometimes you might want to go stereo to for certain samples. just an idea.

you had this set up pretty much like this already right? just confirming. now i use mtc, not clock, just works better for me. set mpc to receive mtc at 30 fps and make sure the d16 is sending code at 30 fps. also set mpc to mmc on. push play on mpc and it should say waitng for play. when you push play on the d16 it should start your mpc. make sure you are set to match the bpm of the mpc in the d16. you'll miss the first beat cuz it takes a sec for midi to get going, thats why i always start trackin right at the end of the bar, so if i have an 8 bar loop, i start tracking at 8 bars and 3 beats. it gives the mpc a chance to start from midi and sync up, then its locked tight by bar 9, the start of your sequence. make sense?

you dont have to loop it that way, it is just the way i do it cuz i sometimes send sync, somtimes i wanna receive.

but also i think it helps it keep tight. at least nowadays with my current set up of digital perfomer and motu timepiece, i have to do it like that. it wont work unless dp sees the return sync from the mpc. i cant remember if that was the deal with the dp16, been a couple of years...
