scsi card sitch

hey all, im real new in this game,an my knowledge is lame,gotta 2000xl just wondering if any one could help me with scsi card info. will scsi hooked up to your pc read from hard drive? or do u kneed a seperate drive for this? whats a suitable brand? how many pin to how many pin?
Igot a iomega zip 100, does this come into picture at all? SORRY bout petty questions, im bit stuck.

I never have tryed to hook my mp to the computer via the scsi card in my computer......Someone else asked this very same question and I have been looking for proof that this is possible but I havent found anything to support this as of yet......

You need a micro 50 pin to 25db for that scsi Zip drive......its good that you have one because they are better than the floppy disk......1.44mb versus 100mb........much more saving.........you are also gonna need to up your memory, if it isnt already.......I read some where to stay away from "Nec drives" they must not be compatible..........

appreiciate advice man, still just trying to figure out what the other 25 pin female connection on back o scsi can do. does this just aid when hooking up scsi chain? can this hook up to pc scsi card? cheers!!

If you want to share a SCSI hard disk between your PC and yOur MPC then I guess It will be a nono because the 2 machine will end up in a conflict over who accesses the Harddisk. You can however share A scsi CDROM drive (even one that is built in you PC) if You make sure to disable the insert new disk notification flag in your windows OS. That way windows won't try to access the cdrom automatically everytime you insert a cdrom in the drive.
So imo you can hookup the scsi connector of the mpc tot the scsi card of your pc but only to share scsi removable drives (like cdrom / zip) If you want to transfer data from the the pc to the internal SCSI drive of the mpc(if you have one in your MPC) then you can use a USB-SCSI cable as discussed here on the board. MPC3000 is one of the guyz who uses this setup according to him it works.

you can't go wrong with plextor. They're probably not the cheapest but I find them very sturdy and trusworthy (djeez almost sound like a plextor sales guy )
