emu recommendations

hey guy its me again i need some info what do you guys who have and dont have 1 i found another beatmaker in my town thats been doin it for bout ten years went to his crib and was amazed at what he had come up on he schooled me a little and i wanted to be schooled one guy here told me i needed monitors and i thought i could get away with phones for awile but in his studio he had monitors and dammmm javascript:emoticon(':shock:')
javascript:emoticon(':shock:') it sounded good i gotta get me some of these and he had a proteus mod what do you guy think about them opinions and recommendations are greatly needed oh im doin hip hop and rnb

Monitors are definatly a must.......make sure they are good quailty......as far as Emu is concerned.......With doing Hiphop and Rnb.....I would go with the Mo' Phatt........Y........it is geared urbanly and we all know that the urban sound is becoming universal.......I am looking a grabbing one myself but also its not really what you got( okay it is to a degree) but how you use it

can you rec some good not to exspensive monitors 200 -500

anything by event or mackie.

if you have enough money,why don't you try European monitors like Dynaudio,Genelec...or FAR which is not known enough but sounds very GOOOOOOD.......

In you price bracket I would say stay away from the studiophile they look really good but I found them off at the bass end.......not accurate

Go wit the Proteus 2000. I have both the Mo Phatt and the proteus and I find the Proteus far more superior than the mo phatt cause it got better samples. The Mo Phatt got 2 many cheesy samples but the drums and snares dont get any better.

Check out the XL or MP 7 group on yahoo. You will get a good idea as to what roms will work for you. I suggest the XL, MP, or PX and some roms that you can find. All of the above will take 4 roms unlike some of the rack modules. It also gives you 16 assignable knobs. My most used roms are World, XL7, Beat garden, and Techno. I think emu has lost the way with creatives move to native samplers. Oh the new emu x is supposed to have the majority of the MP rom in its library. Unfortunately the sample engine is all native cpu, it does have card based effects ( can you say anti pirate dongle ). The world is a must have, unfortunately they have become very scarce.

I have the Mpc 2000xl and the Proteus 2000 with the xlead ,Mo phatt and just today I ordered the beat Garden rom after I listened to the Demo and dizzamm. That with my Motif es. !!!
Dre ,Timbo, Swiss, Neptunes better watch out ?? I left out kanye cause I barely sample, With All the sounds that my equipment has .Why should I ?
I might sample a voice though

that motif is the bomb i went to the musik store and played with one dammmm the drums are that tight but i kept touching the screen cuz i got aa triton thats the only thing i didnt like thanks for the info guys i needed it
