These things are running for 350. It is about the best deal I can find on a something to record with. Do you guys recommend this or is it an absolute complete pile of poo. Could you please leave some insight on either or. I'm looking to start recording some stuff. I'm ready for vocals to get thrown down. I'm just not ready to pay for one of those costly digital recorders. Let me know whats up.

I haven't used on. I've read about them. All I can say is that Lexicon makes good stuff. I wouldn't believe that it was whack. They have a good reputation.

Fundamentally, it's a MBox without Pro Tools. I'm just concerned about the software. If the software stinks, that is a problem.

It sounds like a perfect solution for recording vocals. It has two balanced mic inputs, and Lexicon reverbs are among the best in the world. Most software reverbs eat a lot of processor power, so it's great to have one that runs on the soundcards DSP.
i must say i haven't used or heard it myself, but it looks great on paper. I've also read some good stuff about it in a mag.
There's plenty of soundcards that come with a basic software package around this price, but none of them have the famous Lexicon reverb on a chip.
basically, if you don't need the reverb that much, you can probably find a similar or better deal somewhere.

I was about to go with one of these before I decided to run my current setup. The only drawback I saw with the Lexicon Omega was the USB transfer. Depending on your computer setup. If you are running a laptop it is perfect, but if you are using a desktop you would be better off going with a PCI card. I am going to track mine using the EMU 1212M PCI card (if they ever release it) running to a Behringer digital 8. The Digital 8 is a rack with 8 ins and outs and ADAT lightpipe digital I/O. I have the 8 outs from my MPC running to 8 1/4" ins on the Digital 8 and I am going to run the ADAT lightpipe digital I/O from the Digital 8 to the EMU soundcard. Altogether this setup is only going to run me $400. The Behringer Digital 8 is $200 and the EMU 1212M is $199. So for $50 more dollars you get 4 more inputs and the Behringer Digital 8 has XLR and 1/4" ins.

I don't no man. I've asked and looked at some reviews and they said the recorded vocals sounds really good. They also said the reverb package that comes with it is a nice addition as well. Man decisions decisions

I did'nt know you wanted it for vocals. I'm running two Bellari preamps so I would'nt use it for that. I'm sure it does sound good tho. The Behringer has a 48V Phantom Power preamp in it too, but the lexicon is probably way better for recording vocals.

James your saying when you record your mpc into this it sounds like poo. Because I'm going to transfer my mpc joints to tracks on here then lay the vocals over top of the track.

Never said that. I was saying the best way to do it is to track your sounds individually into a multi-tracking software. Then lay your vocals down that way you can mix around your vocals. Where did you get the "sounds like poo" part

Lexicon came out with a soundcard a few yrs back. They were never able to get them to be compatible with all the major software so it tanked. It was similar to the new one having built in Lexicon reverb. It had positive reviews at first. After a while people realized its incompatibilities. What does that mean about the new one? Ehhhhhh who knows. Just kickin the facts tho.

I found some more info on the Lexicon card. The reverb plug-in is also used in the latest version of Cakewalk's Sonar 3. You could check the Sonar forums to hear some feeedback on it. They made a deal with Cakewalk to trade the plug-in for a basic multitrack solution for the card. So the software that come with the card is made by Cakewalk. They have a pretty good reputation, so it should be ok.
