NE Roland JV users out there?

Does anyone know how to make the Roland JV 1010 recall Midi settings? IE (saving a song file APS and ALL on MPC) JV plays the melodies, but not the correct instruments? I helped a friend last night, he is using Performance Mode and now he can track different channels, but the JV doesn't recall them when the saved song (APS+ALL file) is played back.
