BTW those speaker stands are homebuilt, ive also got a turntable desk i built myself, and it works very nice-so if any of you need some good directions on building your own desks, just ask.

looks like a tight setup. exactly what I want. but how do you play the MPC?

yeah, it looks like it would, but it really doesnt, im more worried about it scratchin the front.

Im gonna make a piece of wood for the mpc to sit on, just under the size of it so you cant really see it, then put some notches on the bottom sides so it fits onto the stand and stays there.

but where is the keyboard, mouse and monitor for the PC? That is my biggest problem with studio organization... I run 2 PC's and they take up so much desk space.

they are to the right, i just built my computer when i took the pics, so i didnt have it all setup right on my desk. Plus since then i rearrange some stuff for space. But yeah, i agree, i hate the fact that my computer cant be directly next to my stuff.

I dont really use the computer for anything except recording purposes, so really its not that big of deal.

But thats why i built a desk, so actually i have 2 desks, one for my computer and the other for my turntable and mixer. I have shelves for vinyl too.

I currently use one machine for recording and Ableton and the other machine I use for some sequencing, web stuff (don't want to pollute my "production" machine with sh*t while I am surfing for pr0n ) and cutting up samples while my other machine is recording etc. Getting a couple flat screens and some of those small footprint "web" keyboards and wireless mice would be helpful but not very cost effective. Until I can afford it, I am stuck with a cluttered work area. I got some nice shelves along with a nice browser to keep my wax sorted but the whole sampling process is a pain as it stands with my decks being about 15 ft from my MPC, PC's and records... "Walk all the way across room to find a record, walk all the way back and cue it up, walk across room to PC and hit record, walk all the way back to decks and hit play, rinse, repeat." Can't wait to get moved in to a house and get myself a nice compact area to work in.

You ought to cop one of those KVM Switches that let you use 1 Keyboard, 1 Mouse, 1 Monitor with 2 Computers.

Think of it like this, when you want to use computer #2 just hit the switch and BAM its on the screen.

That's how the big boyz do it!

anyways, yeah the flat screens are nice for space. i rearranged my whole room after those "pictures" because of the mpc and turntable senario, i was trippin over chords and everything. im about to design a wax holder for when im just previewing several(like the ones in most dj shops), that way i dont have the covers laying all over getting stepped on. I just need to find a piece of wall i can nail it to.

cashstill, thats a great idea......i think you can also set it up, for two differant modes on your computer/2 differant harddrives-have to restart though.

i cant wait until i can dedicate an entire basement, or large room for my music....that way i can build an iso booth and everything. I'd like to see some wireless analog cables-probably lag too much, but someday my pile of chords will create magnetic field and demagnatize my disks and all my shiat will be gone!

oh, what do you use ableton for?

I use it for song arrangement and sample playback. I will work out grooves using all my gear, "resample" everything back in to the PC, cut it up in Sound Forge and lay it all out for playback in Ableton.
