I don't have a ton of money to spend on a synth... Right now I'm hopin to get a EPS 16+ (due to it's El-P fame mainly)... I've heard it's got sick brass and just general Horn sounds... Does anyone here have one... Or does anyone have a better suggestion... Taking into account that I've seen EPS 16+'s go on eBay for like 250, so I'm not looking to spend too much over that...

Also... Anyone lookin to sell one

The EPS 16+ is a Sampling Workstation like the KORG Triton... It samples, but it's also a synth with some really nice effects...

The cool part from what I'm told is that you can apply some really nice effects to your synth sounds and then, because it's a sampler too, you can resample your melodies and add more FX... Gives you full customization of your sounds...

Sounds cool but I've never used one and I don't know any one that has one so I can't try one out... I was hopin someone on here had one

Hello,
the EPS 16+ is almost exactly like the asr 10. It has no sound built in.

Peace & Love, Lord Toranaga.

No sounds built in??? how does it work then... It's advertised as a synth... So then how does it work... I'm not calling you wrong, but I guess I'm just really misinformed... How does the EPS 16+ work then???

I would say you sample into the machine and tweak the sound in the eps the way you want it to sound and assign it to the keys.....

I'm still confused... cause if you go onto Synthesizer Museum, or whatever that sites called, they describe it as a synth that also samples, like a sampling Workstation with ful MIDI Capability... does anyone on here actually have the thing

It's more of a sampler than a synth, but it has basic synth waveforms in ROM or something that you can tweak with the filters and envelopes and effects.

That's probably why the Synth museum has it set up like that. They are kinda wrong tho, it is much more of a sampler.

Thank you elmacaco... I guess I'll have to just save up and get a Mo' Phatt then... Thats what I really want, but like I said before my budgets tight... I guess I'll just look for a used one or wait a little longer and save up for a new one...

My beats are just gonna have to wait longer to get done I guess...

Thanks for all the help guys... you really saved me from makin a mistake...oNe.

It's actually a synth in which you create the waveforms by SAMPLING them. If you sample a sine wave and shape it you can play it like a bass synth, etc. It's the older version of the ASR10, you might want to go with an ASR10 over a EPS16 because it has limited memory. It's over twice as much in price though...

it has sine tri saw and square waves standard, not that you have to sample.

I dont know all that much about the eps but I DO know that I have about twenty original ensoniq disks which are for the eps and can also be used in the asr...if you decide to get the eps let me know if you need these disks and I'll see what I can do.

I don't think I'm gettin the EPS 16 because I was plannin on gettin it based on the fact that I heard from a site that it had some really good brass sounds and all around was a nice synth, plus i see em go much cheaper than asr-10s... I may eventually get one, but for roight now I'll prolly just shoot for a used mo phatt...

You would have to load the instruments you want to use......I agree it has very nice brass and bass, I sold mine like 6 years back for like 800.00 I was up against a brick wall and it was sell it or live in the streets.......you have to load everything into it it is a great machine but you have to learn to work around the limited memory.........250 is not a bad deal as long as it is in good shape.........

I still have mad sample disk that came with the machine and that I brought over the years............

Good luck with you choice
