As far as two tracking beforehand, I guess you do all your own mixing and effects and the engineer just records and mixes the vocals . . . how does that work? Do you feel the your mixing and effects sound professional because I'm stuck between mixing myself or letting the engineer do all the mixing and effects.
you should let the engineer do it if you don't feel comfortable about your sound.......but be specific of what you want.....how you want it to sound....and he should be able to recreate that for you.......as for me I say this is Hip Hop where we use sp-1200's,turntables,MPC's,8-track recorders,16-track recorders...old school budget sh*t and make it sound good....a lot of the time someone who is not familar on how rap should sound will mess up your mix.........YOU should know how YOU want YOUR music to sound.........sometimes we do need assistance though...but you have to learn to be self-sufficent.....ya dig???
