muting midi tracks

hello,
I got an mpc 2000xl a couple of days ago, I've managed to figure out some stuff but I can't seem to figure out this;

I've synced playback of a midi module to the mpc but when I record a midi track I can't seem to get it to mute (using the track mute screen or the option on the main screen) when I play it back, is this normal or am I doing something wrong ?

it should be able to mute, are you sure its the right track your muting?

If using a keyboard to control your module, make sure LOCAL Midi is OFF.

if TRmute isnt working, can you simply turn the dial until it say's "NO"

make sure your trying to mute the correct track also
that is the most common mistake
