Is a pro tools session created on a mac compatible to be opened up and continued on a pc or vice versa? If you burn your session on one computer is it possible to open it up on someone else's comp if they are using pc and you use mac or vice versa? If anyone knows let me know, I am going to be getting pro tools in the future but am undecided on building up a new pc or getting mac, and I have friends that run pro tools on mac and I want to know if there's compatibility issues. Thanks.

As long as you have a DVD drive it does not matter as long as the computer your going to be using has a DVD drive.DVD's will work between MAC and PC platforms no problems but CD's will need to be converted when switching between the two.The majority of newer MACS come with superdrives(DVD/CD drive that reads and writes both)so if you are going to be using a PC(which I highly suggest)be sure and build one that includes a super drive they are about $200 for the really nice ones. That way no matter where you are going you can have the proper format of disk.Worse comes to worse you can use some of the inexpensive software that converts MAC files to PC files and vice versa.

you don't need a dvd drive all you have to do is make sure you check mac/pc compatibility box when you're setting up your session, you can work between a mbox,001,002 and hd only thing changes is the amount of i/o and sample rate so make sure you match the sample rate of the system you tranfer to. So all you need is a cdrw

aljax is correct, although my days of sending cd's all over the country are over, I use a file storage site to upload/download all of the PT sessions I work on now.
