Has this mpc got the new pads??

I know the serial isn not MPC1000BK-N but it does have a black rear pannel.

does this mean it has new pads ??

the only way to tell is to move a pad and see if the whole pad set moves with it. or open it up.

do you have the mpc at the moment, or are those photos from its ebay auction?

pictures from the auction but you know what its like i want to completely make sure before i pay out

there's no way to tell from just the pictures... you'd have to mess around with the pads a bit to make the call... but for what it's worth, mine came with the new pads [back in november last year] and it looks just like that one... my serial ends in BK instead of BK-N and it has the black back. so it is possible.

I've also got a regular BK with fresh pads. Doesn't guarantee you anything though. If it is from eBay or Craigslist, ask the seller to tug on the pads as mentioned above and you should be relatively safe buying.

i asked the seller to wiggle the pads, he did and told me the pads closest to the pad he wiggles all move, so hopefully im good to go!!!!!!!

I have a BK-model with new pads, so it's quite possible.

i came to the conclusion that the bk models that come with the new pads are actually the bk-n models. therefore there is no such thing as a bk-n model. unless someone out there with a bk-n model can prove me wrong.

There is a BK-N serial number/UPC or whatever, so it definitely exists. Whether it is anything more than a BK model with proper pads, who knows. I don't really see how you could argue against its existence.

can I ask what's the problem, I thought I was having problems, but I'm not sure anymore, what's with this "wiggle" business with the pads?

with the old style pads. each pad is an individual unit. seperate from all the rest. on the new style. its the same as all other mpc's. a sensor sheet for all pads. with a rubber pad sheet layed on top. since this is a solid sheet laying on top you can move one pad around and watch the rest kinda move with it. not true with the old style 1000 pads. just touch another model mpc and you will know exactly what im talking about.

and he confirmed it and it was not a "BK-N" i hear from the grape vine its the jap model ??

This whole pad business has me confused now. With an MPC2000XL for example, when you are talking about the pads on the 1000, would I be looking for a 1000 with the newer pads, hence they are more like the 2000XL or the older pads. Would I be looking for this BK-N number to get the right pad feel I seek, or would it be something else? If I want a 1000 to feel like my 2000XL used to, wouldn't I want the 16 pads to all move individually and not as a single unit? It seems some of these posts are saying the opposite. Please confirm.
