help please

so i tried to install a 256 memory upgrade with all the requirements i read about here. it was a "Lifetime" brand 256 PC133 SODIMM 144 pin board, and i just got a blank green screen. did i do something wrong ? is this a bad brand ? can anyone help ? thanks

there is a sticky at the top of the forum that will let you know what brand to buy

how do you mean ? before i turn it on, or after ? i tried both and still got nothing. i saw the reccomended brands, but this is the only one i have found in my area. most places don't even carry 256 memory at all anymore.

i meant after you turn it on. it wont do anything until you turn it on haha

thanks for trying to help but nothing seemed to work. i just returned the damn thing. so much for cheap ram. WTF! i just wish i knew if that brand isn't compatable or was it just a bunk chip i got ? all the specs seemed right, but no deal.
