SoundForge 7.0 & MPC 1000

First of all I would like to say thank all of you guys on this website for posting the forums it has been helping me greatly with all of my recent purchases and learning this new machine. I was sequencing on an ASR X pro before getting a MPC 1000 so I am just loving this! Anyhow I have a Motif Rack, MP 1000, M Audio Midi Controller and Soundforge 7.0. I have made a couple of beats and would like to dump this sucker to soundforge and burn to cd. I just got the program without a manual so there is a learning curve with this. I got soundforge for free so I can't be picky. any idea on how i can record everything to my computer via MPC and my Motif? Again thanks for all your help and i will continue searching the forum for this topic. I also have a Berhinger Mixer so I can route everything through that.

Should be simple: just focus on the WAV files. SoundForge can read different formats, but the MPC1000 wants 16-bit, 44100 samp/sec, mono or stereo. Keep that in mind, then you can just transfer WAVs back and forth with no difficulty...

Integrating the Motif... if you have a mixer, and a good PC soundcard, should be no problem. Do you have worries about the MIDI side? The Motif Rack will be a MIDI slave to the MPC1000, which makes it simple: just get the track MIDI settings right (port & channel).

Then you can hook up your MIDI controller to the MPC MIDI In, set "Soft Thru = As Track". The MPC1000 will route the MIDI from your controller to the channel and port you set on the selected track. (No need to change channels on the controller.)

Hold on a minute... isn't Sound Forge* an audio editor? We've been talking about audio (samples, WAVs) etc., which is what Sound Forge works on. It does not do anything with MIDI - never confuse Audio and MIDI, they are two different animals.

You can't use a MIDI-only interface or controller to transfer audio - you need an audio interface, like a sound card. The only M Audio controller I can see that that does that is the OZone, the rest don't do it...
