using the MPC 1000 in a live situation anyone??

got a quick question about the MPC1000.

im thinking of using it in a live situation in conjunction with a midi foot opedal, so i can trigger samples while i play a guitar..

One thing! what we want to do is use a basic backing track for each track, so that would be a mono track about 4mins long. and then add in smaples triggered from the foot pedal... but we would trigger the main backing track sample from the pedal too.

Is it feasible (memory wise, etc) to load in all your 4 min samples for say 16 tunes (half a live set) and put them on one bank. so your fist song you hit pad A1, then thru up to A16... and then to put the various one shot small samples and loops on other banks.

is teh MPC up to that, memory wise and speed wise. this being live it would all have to ahppen pretty quickly you know what i mean???

Absolutely you can do this with the 1000. I use the JJ os, but I think you can do it with the Akai os as well. There are two footswitch inputs, and you do need to use both. Set one up as a start/stop switch and set the other up to trigger samples. You don't have to do it in mono either. Depending on how long the songs are, you may have to set it up so that you load a second part of your set at one point. Loading times aren't that long, so you can do it on the sly... I don't really know how you can have one FS trigger several different samples, but I think there has to be a way to work something out. If you could start the sequences manually you could have one FS change banks and the other trigger the samples, but that would still just allow you to trigger 4 samples... Let me know what you come up with.
