problems with mpc 1000

I recently bought an mpc1000 from ebay its the blue one. I read the manual and understand how to use all the functions. But i cant get any sound to come out of the MPC, even when i tried to play the pre loaded sample songs such as DJHIPHOP. Ive connected directly to my amp, into my mixer then amp, and also tried to use headphones and i get nothing at all. The guy i bought it off on ebay seems genuine and keeps giving me advice so i dont think he has sold me a dud.

Any ideas?

have you tried the record function. plug in a synth in record mode and see if you can hear anything. maybe its not load the samples on the pads when it loads up. hmmmm. how frustrating!!

its alrite now the samples i was trying to play had been deleted i just had load new ones from my memory card!
