k, can i take my "dusty fingers" mp3 collection from my laptop and chop up tracks to use as samples? Im extremely green with my MPC 1000 and so far the FAQ hasnt been to helpful. Im like DJ from hustle and flow, I have this beat in my head....lol thanks

Additionally, MP3s sound terrible when you sample them. Records are MUCH cleaner but use CDs if you have to.

ideally technics 1200, or one of those newer stantons if you're a broke ass like me. direct drive. stay away from the belt-driven joints if you backspin when cruising for samples.

Used 1200. Check ebay. They're not cheap but they last forever.

Dont get me wrong, im also a DJ and i love my old 1200's and i whouldnt trade them for nothing BUT they are bit too expensive if you want just sample records, if you want to scratch or mix get it otherwise you can buy a cheaper turntable and a more expensive needle that as a lot more influence on the sound quality.
