Purchased a MPC 1000 Used and have a question

Hello,
I am new to the MPC and am learning. I purchased a MPC 1000 with upgraded 128 RAM and a 60 GB hard drive according to the seller. What can i do in order to make sure that the hard drive is indeed 60 GB and working? I have tried to plug it into the computer and i recognizes it but when i attempt to open the drive, it gives me the message "Insert disk into drive."

Can someone help?

The machine shows disk size when you are at the load menu.
An most HD have it writen on them, if not they have a model number. Google that number.

The seller installed JJ OS 3.08. When loading the MPC the only things it shows is the 128 mb of RAM is installed and the version of JJ OS.

How can i gain access to the hard drive?

Okay, i just was able to connect to the computer using mode>USB but when i connect it only shows that i have 30.4 mb total space.

Is it suppose to be like this?

Okay nvm i got it. But shouldn't there be 128 mb showing when I try to see what is in the Memory drive?

Yes. There are things already loaded onto the memory. The issue is that when hooking up the MPC 1000 to the computer, the "removable disk" shows that it has a maximum capacity of 31 mb.

When turning on the MPC 1000, it states that 128 mb installed. Why doesn't it show 128 mb on my computer?

Your cf card that is inside your mpc probably has a 97mb "autoload folder set up to autoload on power up.. ....

1. turn your mpc power off

2. remove the cf card from the slot.

3. turn your mpc power back on

it should load up & say 128 mb ram installed

4. since you removed the cf card then any autoload folder on the card will not load this time taking up ram, you should have most of the 128 mb available now.

5. as far as your external hard drive, your mpc is not gonna connect directely to the hard drive, you gotta hook the drive up to your computer, via usb click then my computer icon view the drive , view the pie graph see how much space is on it/ taken up etc . then hook up your mpc to another usb port then you can drag & drop .wav & .pgm Files/folders back and forth between the mpc and the externaldrive using your computer as the middle man.

So let me get this straight. The internal 60 GB hard drive and the 32 mb memory card is the only thing accessible through the computer but the internal 128 mb is not?
