MPC 1000 Lessons in my area?

Does anyone know someone in Montreal, Canada who could offer lessons?

I think I know where your coming from... The best thing for you to do is just start playing with the thing. Think about how you think things should work, and what you want the machine to do. Soon you'll find that there is a way to get what you imagine out of the box. Even if you don't know what you want it to do, just get your head into it and think about music. Listen with fresh ears, and read everything you can on it. The manual, this forum, etc. Also, you have the benefit of looking at youtube tutorials. Just do a search on youtube for MPC 1000 tutorials and you will be well on your way. You got into this at a time when there is an amazing amount of information out there for you to find. You just have to search for it, and have patience. I promise you, if you stick with it, it will all just click at some point.

Get the "Beat Making for the MPC1000" e-book - comes with tutorials that are easy to follow. Well worth it, IMO.
