White LCD screen + clear pads from MPCStuff - pics

i recently got the white screen & clear pads from MPCStuff & thought i'd upload some pics for those who are curious what they look like. even tho MPCstuff calls these pads 'clear', they are more translucent looking. they kinda look like ice cubes. not a dramatic effect but you can definitely notice it from angles. not as drab as the stock gray pads but not as bright as the white ones. i think they look cool. there is definitely NO difference in hardness between the stock akai pads (the new padfix ones) and these. i compared them very carefully and they are completely identical in feel.

the white screen is great. i was afraid before ordering it that it would be too bright but that is not the case at all. it is more of a gray color than white and very easy on the eyes. the pic i posted that shows only the screen is exactly how it appears when you're looking at it. absolutely no eye strain even after hours of continous use. i can't imagine an easier to read screen than this one.

one negative thing i did notice about the white screen is that it has a slightly narrower angle of view than the stock green one. if you are viewing the screen straight on there are no problems, but if you have your mpc propped up at an angle, you may need to raise it up an extra couple of inches towards you so the screen is more readable.

The screen and pads look great together. I was thinking about getting the blue screen for my 2500 but may have to go with the white one now.

sooty: thanks for the pics... the white screen looks great! i'm in the middle of customizing the hell outta my mpc1000 but am still on the fence about whether or not to swap the screen out for something different. i remember hearing a while back that when you add a different screen you have to adjust the contrast every time you turn it on... is that still the case?

question for dirtyrum... is swapping the screen on a 2500 as easy as on the 1000? it looks like it would be more complicated with the flip-up screen & all... just wondering.

nah. you just set it once when you first start up with the new screen installed and then it remembers it from then on. very easy.
at least, that's how it works with JJ os 2. i'm pretty sure the others are the same, tho.

Yo Crossings, from what I've seen in the MPC Stuff video to replace the screen it doesn't look hard at all.

From the pictures, it kind of looks like the left side of the screen is a little bit brighter than the rest. Is that from an outside light source, or is the light from the screen not quite uniform?

That combo looks really good on the black 1000- I've a blue screen and clear pads in my blue one, and while it looks good, I like the look of this better

sooty: i just did some searching and i think it's if you only have JJOS1 that you have to set the contrast each time at startup [but if you have JJOS2 installed you only have to do it once]... at least that used to be the case with the blue screen and i saw that info posted in some threads from Nym as well as on the VST store website.


dirtyrum: i looked into the 2500 screen replacement process and it looks like there are 2 cables that need to be soldered... so it's definitely a bit more involved than swapping the 1000 screen where you just plug in a cable.

b.read: maybe get the blue pads instead... might look nicer? i dunno really...

no, that's just the reflection from the lamp that's on the left side of my table.

naw, it's the blue/red nintendo scheme that's getting me down Doesn't keep me from making music, but doesn't look as dope as I'd like...oh well.
