Lost control of the pads

I recently purchased a used MPC1000 and got it for a great deal. however it does something ive never seen before in all my akai products. It sometimes gets stuck in a process where all of the pads are being hit together. it affects the mode button and all other applications. this lasts for about 10 min. and then stops. the machine returns to normal for up to 2 to 3 weeks befor it happens again. usually installing the akai version OS keeps it under control. but when i first got it 3 months ago its happened for the first time on akai OS then later on JJos. I Think installing the pad upgrade will fix it but im not sure. Any suggestions Would be helpful thanx

not a very helpful description...

your saying all the buttons keep playing their sounds over and over for 10 minutes?

Without touching the pads at all, it sounds like all the pads are being hit rapidly. this also effects the mode button so its not just a sound issue. The thing I cant figure out is that its only been happening 1 out of every 30 or so uses. re-installing the OS usually keeps it from happening again for a while. is there some kind of master reset

Sounds like a bad cable connection...i had this repeating pad hitting problem also and solved it after opening the MPC and disconnecting/cleaning & reconnecting every cable connection inside of it.

I cleaned and fixed my pads by just going on Youtube and searching for fixing MPC1000 pads. You'll find a step by step vid that will hopefully help you.

thanks, but i already tried searching for mpc 2500 tutorials to no avail. maybe my search criteria sucked.

well, i now know (due to just doing it myself to much frustration and time) how to open it. cleaning the connections is the hard part. for example; when i press the 'main' button it isn't very responsive and has to be pressed multiple times with force to function properly. after taking the machine apart i blew away the dust from the area, which (as you veterans must know) did absolutely nothing.

so, what is it exactly that needs to be done here to make my button function the way it used to? is the machine knackered altogether? do i need an experienced electrician to give the mpc a good kick-in?
