Syncing Problem

I am trying to hook my MPC 1000 up to where i can have what I created on the MPC, be edited and/or recorded within pro tools...
I have an m-audio mobile pre interface which doesn't have MIDI I/O...
so instead I tried hooking it up by MIDI out on the MPC to usb port on my mac...
lights flash on the midi cable interface (as if it is picking up me hitting the pads) but I see or hear nothing in pro tools...
I have tried to go to pro tools setup and enable the midi cable that is being recognized but still no luck...

wondering if Im doing something wrong or if I need to get a pre amp such as the m-audio fast track pro for its midi capabilities.

uhhhhhhh where are the audio outs going into from the mpc 1000?

I would probably be set if I have audio outs go into the preamp right?!

just asking, cause your first post described midi connections only. Via the usb interface, you get LED indicator lighting up., but do yo unotice the mpc "slaving" to pro tools. Secondly is you sync setting on the 1000 set to EXT....

Yeah its logical that im not hearing anything because i dont have any audio cables hooked up...
I didn't know if you needed midi cables to be connected from MPC to the audio interface for things to work...
Im gonna order some audio cables because i dont have any right now, and hopefully they solve it...
Don't what you mean with "slaving", so it must not be, or im looking at the wrong thing...
Ummm, when I go to my (mode)midi/sync the only options i have are sync in and sync out, no EXT option...
