working with the midi

whats up everyone. heres what i got. mpc 1000 with jj os 1 4.99 and a korg triton keyboard. i hooked a duel midi cable from my mpc OUT A to korg IN and mpc IN 1 to korg OUT. i set my mpc program to off and 1a for track 1. i layed down some strings and it worked. when i go to track 2 program off and 2a and change the sound on my keyboard say to bells it plays the same pattern as track 1 only its bells now instead of strings. this is what i want to do...i want to use my korg to lay down multiple individual tracks on my mpc and use my mpc to lay down the drums. i want to be able to take just my mpc and be able to play back my song without the keyboard being present. i'm thinking it has to do with the way i've got my midi/sync in and out screen set up (mode pad 9). if someone out there can break this down for me i would really appreciate it. this forum has helped me so much and i'm starting to feel a lot more comfortable with the mpc. thanks. peace.

Hey there, I dont use Triton but I do use a few synths. From what i have read it seeems your triton is not in multitimbral mode, i.e. will recieve only one midi channle at once....so when you change Triton's programme to different sounds it will still play the only one midi channle it is getting from MPC. You will have to read Triton manual to but it in multitimbral mode. I do not know if Triton has tis abillity but for the price it should. let us know

Honestly, I hate to be the bad guy here... but it's all in the Triton's manual bro. I'm not saying that to be a dick, but to help you avoid frustration. All you're likely to get here, is a summary of what is clearly defined in that book. Check the manual's index for multi-mode and read that section. Good luck.
